At the initiative of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, a training session on tourist safety in mountainous areas was held in the Uzhok National Nature Park. The event was organised jointly with the national park staff and rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast.

The director of the Uzhok National Nature Park, Yaroslav Shukal, presented the recreational opportunities of the national park to the seminar participants and, together with the staff of the park, conducted a tour of the tourist attractions located in the protected area. Among them are the wooden churches of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1645) and St. Basil the Great (1703), the defence hub of the Arpad Line during the Second World War, the oldest oaks in Ukraine and an equipped observation deck on the Uzhok Pass.

In turn, representatives of the mountain search and rescue unit of the Special Purpose Emergency and Rescue Detachment of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast conducted training on first aid and told about the evacuation procedure for the injured.

"We continue to tell the region's residents and guests about the recreational potential of the Zakarpattia region. Of course, we also focus on the safety of tourists when visiting mountainous areas. We thank the administration of the Uzhansky National Nature Park for the tour and warm welcome, and the SES specialists for important safety knowledge that will be useful to every tourist," said Marianna Gotra, Head of the Tourism and Resorts Department of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration.

The Department of Tourism and Resorts, in cooperation with mountain rescuers of the State Emergency Service, regularly conducts training on tourist safety. Last time, the seminar was held in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve National Nature Park.
