The Uzhhorod Castle has a room where visitors can feel like medieval heroes, picking up swords, helmets and even trying on chainmail from the time when the castle functioned as an active fortress.
This was reported by Olga Shumovska, acting director of the Transcarpathian Regional Local History Museum named after T. Lehotsky, the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Council.
According to Olha Shumovska, the castle continues to arrange additional rooms that have been closed to visitors for decades.
In particular, an exhibition dedicated to the history of Nevytsky Castle is being prepared for opening on the ground floor. For this purpose, appropriate equipment has already been installed and exhibits have been prepared. On the third floor, a large exhibition hall is being completed, where two new doors have been purchased with grant funds raised by the museum and a powerful air conditioner has been installed to maintain the appropriate temperature to prevent damage to the exhibits.
In addition, the collections of individual thematic exhibitions have been expanded. In particular, on the first floor of the museum, exhibits dedicated to the Revolution of Dignity, the ATO and the Russian-Ukrainian war are being added to the exhibition every time.
