In 2022, representatives of the Ukrainian tourism industry paid UAH 1 billion 551 million 182 thousand in taxes, which is 31% less than in 2021.

The total number of taxpayers engaged in tourism activities decreased by 17% over the year. At the same time, the number of legal entities decreased by 14%, and individuals - by 18%, according to the State Agency for Tourism Development.

Hotels paid the largest share of state budget revenues last year - UAH 898 million, which is 30% less than last year.

There was an increase of UAH 46% in tax paid by boarding houses and dormitories used as temporary shelters for people forced to flee their homes due to the war. The share of tax paid from the activities of tourist centres, campsites, and children's holiday camps decreased by UAH 57%, with UAH 141 million paid compared to UAH 328 million in 2021.

 

Taxes from the activities of tour operators decreased by UAH 35%, as they paid UAH 167 million 858 thousand to the state budget in 2022. There was also a 27% decrease in taxes from travel agencies, which paid UAH 204 million 795 thousand to the state budget last year.

Lviv, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zakarpattia regions showed an increase in the amount of tax paid in 2022.

In the Zakarpattia region, the increase in revenues was UAH 21.56%. In 2022, UAH 72 million 361 thousand 590 was collected, compared to UAH 59 million 527 thousand 304 in 2021.

A significant decline in tax revenues was recorded in Kyiv and Odesa region. In Odesa region - by 58%, and in Kyiv - by 46%.

To recap, in 2022, local budgets of Transcarpathia received more than UAH 19.4 million in tourist tax.
