During the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Transcarpathian Regional Council on Cross-Border Cooperation, Tourism and Recreation, the deputies heard a report from the acting head of the Tourism and Resorts Department of the Regional State Administration, Oleksandra Horzov, on the progress of the Tourism and Resorts Development Programme in Transcarpathian Region for 2021-2023 in 2022.

Given the existing restrictions during the martial law regime, the planned activities were adjusted, but their number was considerable and related to various areas, in particular:

- educational activities and scientific and educational support for the development of tourism and resorts;

- implementation of cross-border projects in the tourism sector of Transcarpathia;

- Ensuring accessibility to tourist attractions for people with reduced mobility;

- production of information materials to promote the tourism potential of Zakarpattia region: production of video content on health improvement in Zakarpattia, translation of the booklet "10 Values of Tourist Zakarpattia" into Polish and updating the booklets "Tourist Safety in the Carpathians" in cooperation with the search and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service of Zakarpattia.

As a result, in January-December 2022, UAH 19 million 471 thousand 300 thousand of tourist tax was paid to the local budgets of the Zakarpattia region, which is 65.7 % more than in the same period in 2021, and more than half a million tourists visited the largest museums in the region. The department plans to continue implementing the measures of the Tourism and Resorts Development Programme in Zakarpattia Region for 2021-2023 this year.
