On Friday, 29 September, the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, together with the Association of Winegrowers, Winemakers and Distillers of Transcarpathia and the Institutional and Policy Reform of Smallholder Agriculture (IPRSA) project, organised a press tour of the region's wineries with the participation of regional and national media.

The journalists got acquainted with the process of grape harvesting and processing in Uzhhorod (Kontsovo village, winemaker Tomas Kish), Mukachevo (Pistrialovo village, Chateau Pauk) and Berehove (winemaker Vasyl Nagy).

According to Marianna Gotra, head of the Tourism and Resorts Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, viticulture during the war can become an element of rehabilitation for guests of Zakarpattia.

"We have nature and hard-working people, and this positive energy is passed on to all Ukrainians who are recuperating in Zakarpattia," said Marianna Gotra.

In his turn, Oleksandr Garnovdiy, Chairman of the Association of Transcarpathian Winegrowers, Winemakers and Distillers, told the media about the history and current state of winemaking in the region and the changes that winemakers are implementing in their work in the context of European integration.

The EBA members are currently preparing to register the Wines of the Silver Land geographical indication, which will allow them to produce value-added products, develop small regional businesses and enter new markets.
