On 18 December, the 26th Mykolaychyky parade was held in Zakarpattia. Launched in 1996, the event is held annually in the region on the occasion of St Nicholas Day.

This year, the parade of Mykolaychyky took place in 11 towns and villages of the region: Dovhe, Imstychev, Bilky, Velykyi Rakovets, Nyzhnyi Bolotnyi, Zarichchia, Vilkhivka, Hreblya, Irshava, Mukachevo and Uzhhorod.

"About fifty students from Zakarpattia's educational institutions took part in the event. In each city, everyone could join them. The last city of the parade was Uzhhorod. On Teatralna Square, Mikolajczyks and residents of the city, together with the Transcarpathian Folk Choir, sang Christmas songs and danced. In addition to sweets, Mikolajczyks handed out reflective elements to passers-by, which is very important nowadays," said Mikhail Shtefanyo, co-organiser of the parade.
