On the occasion of the Tourism Day, the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region conducted training for guides on tourist safety in the mountains in the Zacharovanyi Krai National Nature Park.

The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast, the Zacharovany Krai National Park and guides to the mountains of Zakarpattia Oblast.

The training began with recommendations for mountain hiking and a description of possible natural hazards in the winter season, which were presented by Viktor Lisovsky, Head of the Irshava Mountain Search and Rescue Department. He also introduced the participants to the special equipment of the mountain search and rescue department and the rules of conduct when travelling in the mountains in the winter season and stressed the importance of observing them.

Representatives of the Zacharovany Krai National Park - acting director of the park Vasyl Fenych and leading engineer Yevhen Giga - shared with the audience the peculiarities of tourist behaviour in the forest and nature reserve area. Famous mountain rescuers Yevhen Chizmar and Volodymyr Shcherbyna introduced the basic rules of behaviour for tourists in extreme situations.

 

The training seminar ended with practical exercises on first aid for victims in the mountains, conducted by representatives of the State Emergency Service.

At the end of the event, each of the participants received a certificate of successful completion of the programme "Safety of tourists in the mountains".
