On 25-27 April, the first hiking training in the Zakarpattia region took place in Yasinia and Kvasy. Several dozen tourists and future mountain guides took part in the Hiking in Kvasy project, gaining the necessary skills for safe and exciting trips on mountain routes.

The school was organised by the NGO "Kvasy nalnuvshyysya", the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration and the Tourist Information Centre of Rakhiv District, and the lecturers were scientists from the Department of Tourism of UzhNU, specialists from the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, guides and mountain rescuers.

For three days, the project participants were taught about the peculiarities of tourism in the Carpathians, the rules of behaviour in the mountains, how to mark tourist routes, plan routes, work with cartography and navigation tools, and learn how to provide first aid.

The event also featured a discussion panel with representatives of the regional authorities and tourism industry, and a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Kvasy Nalnuvshyysya NGO and the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration.

After lectures and workshops, tourists and future mountain guides hiked the Brailka and Strimchyska meadows and received certificates of participation in the first Zakarpattia Hiking School.
