September 2022 was extremely busy with tourist events, as this month we celebrated the Day of Tourism and many events were dedicated to this holiday. What was September 2022 remembered for in the tourism life of Transcarpathia?

Quiet nights in Uzhhorod, walks in the forest and nature protection

On 14 September, Uzhhorod banned mass entertainment events in restaurants and service establishments at night - from 22:00 to 08:00 - for the period of martial law.

On 23 September, the Regional Defence Council lifted the ban on people visiting forests. We remind you that such restrictions were in place in Transcarpathia due to the high level of fire danger.

In order to fully prepare for spawning, a ban on fishing for aquatic bioresources for the autumn-winter fish spawning period has been introduced in Zakarpattia. This ban will last from 10 September 2022 to 10 January 2023.

The red deer roar season will last from mid-September to the end of October. A month of peace and quiet is declared for this period. This is stated in the relevant order of the director of the Synevyr National Park dated 08.09.2022 No. 131 "On ensuring the protection of fauna during the deer roar".

 

Memorandum, airport and railway

 

At the same time, it is worth noting important developments in the tourism industry of the region. On 7 September, during a meeting between representatives of the Tourism and Resorts Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Faculty of Tourism and International Communications of UzhNU, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed to jointly promote and develop the tourism potential of the Transcarpathian region.

On 12 September, the leadership of the Transcarpathian Regional Council together with representatives of the Austrian firm PKF and Mukulan & Compagnons discussed the prospects for cooperation in the region's tourism, recreation and transport sectors. The meeting focused on the development of the region, which is based on expanding the capacity of Uzhhorod airport.

And good news for tourists travelling by train. Ukrzaliznytsia has added cars to the train 13/14 Kyiv - Solotvyno and made it a two-group train: from now on, the train 13/123-14/124 Kyiv - Solotvyno, Uzhhorod will provide the most convenient morning arrival to Zakarpattia among all the flights from the capital.

The train will depart from Kyiv on 21 September at 17:12, arriving in Uzhhorod at 08:56 and in Solotvyno at 12:10. In the opposite direction, the train will depart from 22 September at 16:20 from Solotvyno and at 19:50 from Uzhhorod. Also on 16 September, Ukrzaliznytsia sent the first Train to Victory train from Kharkiv to Uzhhorod.

 

Tourist infrastructure of Transcarpathia

 

Employees of the Lubnyanske IUEE installed two sets of forest furniture. They also improved the Rybarnya recreational area. Work is underway to repair tourist routes.

The tourist route "Dubovyi Hai Tourist Camp - Chorni Mlaki tract - Knyahynya village" was arranged in Kostrynka Indigenous Protected Area. The recreational areas "Strychavsky Stream" and "Solyansky Oblazy" were improved.

In Novo-Stuzhytskyi NRIA, repair works were carried out on the tourist route "Stuzhytsia - Chorni Mlaki tract - Stuzhytsia village", the roof of the conservationist's house near the top of Mount Kremenets was repaired, and the road in the Bystryi tract, which runs along the route to Mount Kremenets, was cleared.

The roof of the Museum of Mountain Ecology of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is being overhauled.

A new gazebo for tourists and visitors to the forest was built in the Pay forestry in the Hropynets mountain range.
This year, we plan to open another recreational area in the Neresnitsky forestry.

On 13 September, the HUSKROUA project "Carpathian Mobility" to improve accessibility in the SK-UA cross-border region was discussed at the scientific conference "Carpathian Mobility" held in the Slovak city of Snina under the organisation of the Presov self-governing region. The project aims to support the idea of building a multifunctional tourist bicycle trail in the Eastern Carpathians and completing the smaller tourist infrastructure of the villages of Stackchyn and Ulych.

Additional benefits of this project include the start of cooperation with Ukrainian partners, who will also build a 1.9 km long bicycle path along the dam in Velykyi Bereznyi, mark and clear a 240 km long bicycle route in the Uzhanskyi National Park and the Velykyi Bereznyi community "Uzhanska Trail", jointly develop capacity, and exchange know-how in the development of tourist destinations and related services.

 

And what about Uzhhorod?

On 17-18 September, creative volunteers from Uzhhorod and the Movement to Support Transcarpathian Soldiers prepared an interesting and eventful programme to celebrate the city's day to raise funds for a car for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"The Honoured Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir presented a musical gift to Uzhhorod on the occasion of the City Day at the corner of Nezalezhnist Embankment and Korzo Street.

On 9 September, a tournament was held in the city on the river Uzh to mark the Day of Physical Culture and Sports and the City Day, and on 13 September, children's demonstrations in judo, combat sambo, fencing, taekwondo, football and athletics were held.

On 11 September, an exhibition entitled "Artistic Uzhhorod" opened in the Uzhhorod Gallery on the occasion of the city's day.

 

Tourism Day

 

Of course, we cannot ignore the events dedicated to the celebration of the Tourism Day 2022.

On 25 September, at the invitation of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, guides Viktor Opalenyk, Yuriy Zyzych and Christian Opalenyk conducted a free tour of Uzhhorod. It gathered almost a hundred participants. All those who attended the tour received souvenirs and maps with tourist attractions of Transcarpathia as gifts.

From 20 to 27 September, a photo contest was held by the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Regional State Administration: participants shared their photo memories from Transcarpathia and received gifts.

On 27 September 2022, the Regional State Administration held celebrations and awards on the occasion of the Tourism Day in the atrium, and the regional tourism conference "Tourism of Transcarpathia under martial law: current challenges and search for solutions" was held in Uzhhorod Castle.

 

A run through the vineyards and the first snow

 

On 18 September, the first snow fell in Zakarpattia. The Dragobrat valley and Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirsky (2020 m) were covered with snow, and the temperature there dropped to -1 °C. Rescuers warn tourists to be aware of the weather conditions and register before going to the mountains!

On 11 September, for the fourth time, the most beautiful race in Ukraine - Wine Run - took place in Transcarpathia. This year, the competition was held at the Chateau Pauk vineyards in the village of Pistryalovo, Mukachevo district. More than 100 athletes from all over Ukraine ran under the vineyards in Transcarpathia.

On 15-18 September 2022, the III Carpathian Mountain International Film Festival (CMIFF) took place in Uzhhorod. The aim of the event is to draw attention to the preservation of the Carpathian Mountains and to promote the Carpathian region, which has incredible potential for film production and tourism.

On 26 September, a training on the development of cycling in the cross-border area of the Carpathian region began in Uzhhorod. The participants include tourism and project management experts, as well as representatives of local governments from Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland.

A tourist novelty

On 20 September, the Adalbert Erdelyi House of Art was opened in Mukachevo. The House of Creativity of Adalbert Erdelyi houses a permanent exhibition of reproductions of the most famous paintings. The manuscripts, telegrams, drawings, letters and other personal belongings of the artist are original. There is also some antique furniture that belonged to the artist's parents. Other items were bought in antique shops to create the atmosphere of the interior of Mukachevo in the late nineteenth century. The House of Creativity is located at 22 A. Erdeli Street, Mukachevo, and is open to the public.

 

This is how fruitful September 2022 was for various tourist events. The next month is October and it will be full of interesting things!
