"Chardonnay is the first tasting room in Uzhhorod. The wine cellar is located in the centre of the ancient city, near the unique medieval castle. Legends passed down from generation to generation say that it was in this cellar that Uzhhorod nobles used to gather in ancient times and have friendly conversations with foreign ambassadors over a glass of good wine. It is also said that the cellar is connected to the Uzhhorod Castle by underground passages. Its owners, the Counts Drugety, often used them when visiting the wine cellar.
In 2007, thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts from the Association of Private Winegrowers and Winemakers of Transcarpathia, this wine cellar was given a second life. Today, the best Transcarpathian wines and cognacs are gathered in one place in the Chardonnay tasting room. Both legendary wines, such as the "Rose of Zakarpattia", and exclusive varieties of wine are presented at the discretion of connoisseurs of the fragrant drink.
