Well-known tourism experts decided to celebrate the first centenary of the mass planting of Transcarpathian sakura trees.

The first of one hundred sakuras, numbered "Mukachevo-001", was planted at the beginning of the oldest sakura alley in the region in Mukachevo by the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism of UzhNU Natalia Gabchak, the President of the Transcarpathian Tourist Organisation Fedir Shandor, representatives of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandra Horzov and Andriy Andrusiak, heads of NGOs "Association of Transcarpathian Tourist Support Specialists" Oleksandr Shershun, "Tourinform Transcarpathia" Oleksandr Koval, "Solva-Progress" Margarita Zahumenna, "Culture Ecology Tourism" Maksym Adamenko and a representative of the Transcarpathian Tourist Guard and head of the Shelter "Seliska Cheese Factory" Inna Pryhara.

From 22 June 2023 to 24 April 2024, ornamental Japanese cherry saplings will be planted near landmarks in all 64 communities of Zakarpattia and near famous tourist attractions in the region.

And the next year, 2024, when the Transcarpathian sakura turns 100, will be the year of flower tourism in the region: with the opportunity to admire saffron and sakura, lavender and rosemary, daffodils and tulips, taste flower honey and edible flowers, and take part in presentations of flower photo zones and plein airs with flowers.
