Museum of weaving
Museum of weaving - is amazing in its internal content and interesting in its history. It operates at a secondary school in the village of Velyki Berehy, Berehove district. It was created and operates thanks to the initiative of the school principal and her students. All the museum exhibits are antiques carefully preserved by the schoolchildren's parents and brought to the museum room by the children themselves. Among them is a magnificent collection of ancient embroidery on homespun cloth, which is more than 130 years old. The folk patterns have retained their vivid colours to this day. There is also a whole shelf of various irons used by Transcarpathian housewives, many clay jugs of various shapes and purposes, and other household items.
The highlight of the museum is the old spindles and looms, which are used by high school girls in their apprenticeships to learn the forgotten craft of their great-grandmothers, diligently reproducing the preserved patterns on tablecloths and towels. The wonderful products of the students are not only on display in the museum of weaving, but also, at the invitation of the organisers of ethnographic exhibitions abroad, are exhibited in many cities in Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.
