The palace-fortress of the Counts Teleki in the village of Dovhe
The Palace-Fortress of the Counts Teleki is a unique baroque-style palace-fortress. It is an architectural monument of the XVIII century. It was built in 1712-1798 by the Counts Teleki.
The monument is a complex of buildings surrounded by a defensive wall with loopholes, forming a 65×65 m square. The architectural complex of the palace-fortress was created over several decades. In fact, it is a manor interpretation of the "palazzo in fortezza" - a palace surrounded by fortress walls and bastions.
The palace building is one-storey, has a regular rectangular plan, and is adjacent to the north-western defence wall. It is covered with a four-pitched roof with a slope. The main façade is decorated with a risalit and pilasters; the large rectangular windows are framed with platbands. The entire decor is made of plaster. The south-western and north-eastern walls of the building are adjoined by stone defensive walls. The four corner towers, octagonal in plan, are covered with octagonal hipped roofs. The entrance tower is also octagonal in plan, two-tiered, with a hipped roof, located in the centre of the south-western defence wall. This tower is of particular interest because the village's coat of arms was engraved directly above it, which was also included in the 1880 Hungarian Armorial of Cities and Towns.
The outbuildings of the estate are one-storey. One of them is adjacent to the northeastern defensive wall, the other (administrative) is located outside the estate. Outside the fortress, to the northeast, there are stone stables. The remains of an older building, possibly a nobleman's house of the XV-XVIII centuries, have been preserved under the palace.
There is a small park in the courtyard, which has retained its original layout. Two centuries-old linden trees grow here. According to experts, one of the linden trees is over 600 years old and has a girth of 6
Since 1954, a tuberculosis hospital has been operating on the territory of the palace.
