Balneology
Medical and health resort tourism was probably most associated with Zakarpattia 50, 30, 20 years ago. But it is certainly still the case today. Sanatoriums are developing in such a way as to provide services not only to Ukrainian but also to foreign tourists.
A natural feature of the region is the largest number of mineral water types in Ukraine. Each has microelements that affect certain functions of different organs.
For example, all types of Luzhanskaya are low-mineral, it has a gentle effect on the human body and is easily excreted, giving a good therapeutic result.
In Svalyava district there are "Polyana Kupil"water, which is classified as water of medium mineralisation. It contains carbon dioxide, potassium, sodium, and calcium. "Polyana Kupil" can also be called mineral carbonate hydrocarbonate due to its composition, and is often prescribed for the treatment of the gastrointestinal tract, especially the stomach.
In Svalyava district there are also "Kvasova Polyana" - it is classified as water with a high amount of salts. Sometimes doctors recommend diluting this water when treating gastrointestinal diseases due to the high salt content.
If we talk about "The flower of the meadow" In Svaliava district, we have three mineral waters that are supplied directly from the well. This allows us to have a wide range of indications for treatment. Previously, the sanatorium was positioned only as a gastroenterological one, but here it has been scientifically proven that these waters are very effective in treating kidney and urinary tract diseases. For example, Luzhanska 4.
- We have very good hydrogen sulphide baths, which are effective for diseases of the musculoskeletal system. We also have other equipment for working with such problems that is not available anywhere else in the region. Our Luzhanska 7 is very effective for diabetes and other metabolic disorders," says Varosh in an interview. Pavel GaninetsDirector of the Kvitka Polonyny sanatorium at Suzirya LLC.

Zakarpatska 1 mineral water has a high silicon content, which helps to slow down the body's ageing.
Thermal water
Thermal waters are truly relaxing and healing. However, it is important not to overdo it: you can stay in thermal water for 15 minutes (up to three times a day). A warm mineral bath has its best effect after the 12th minute of soaking. From the 12th minute to the 15th minute, it remains at this level of effectiveness, and after the 15th minute, it decreases. In addition, lying in thermal water for a long time is a significant strain on the body.
When it comes to Zakarpattia and thermal waters, the first association is with Berehove district. In fact, there are thermal springs in different parts of the region. If we're talking about Berehove district, it's primarily about the popular Kosyno.
A hot geyser of thermal water flows from a well 1190 metres underground and enters the thermal pool with a temperature of +40-45°C. Each pool is themed, such as Emerald, Kosyno's Golden Health Tap, Yin-Yang, Kneipp's 17 Steps of Health and others.
The complex is located in the city of Beregovo "Lark"It is not as attractive as Kosyno, but it is much more affordable. The website states that the water used to replenish the pools comes from wells 1200 metres deep. Therefore, it is not subjected to technical or chemical treatment. The hot water comes from magmatic intrusions in active volcanic areas, which are abundant in the Berehove region.
The water temperature in the thermal pools ranges from +25°C to +40°C.
Khust district is also "thermal", for example, the tourist complex "Warm Waters of Veliatyno". It offers relaxation in thermal pools and mineral baths. The water is extracted from a well about 1,000 metres deep and has a temperature of over 36°C. Tepli Vody has six thermal baths with different mineral compositions, three thermal, two mineral and five freshwater pools.

There is a semi-outdoor thermal pool with a picturesque panorama of Derenivska Kupil. In general, Derenivska Kupil's mineral and thermal water is the basis of the entire health improvement process in the sanatorium complex (we are talking about the Iris health centre and the Silver Therms SPA in Derenivska Kupil).
In addition to the semi-outdoor thermal pool, there is also an indoor and outdoor freshwater pool.

Vats
We're going to devote a separate section to vats in this publication, because this is a truly Transcarpathian colourful spa attraction. Vats are mostly located in the open air, with views of mountains and forests. They are ideal for swimming in autumn, winter, spring, but also comfortable in summer. There are tubs in many of the locations we have already mentioned.
For example, in Vojvodina there is a vat area, in Camelot. And Publo offers beer and herbal vats. Kateryna has a Japanese herbal vat called Ofuro.
In Zakarpattia, Lumshory is most vividly associated with vats, and most people go to Lumshory for this attraction. For example, the Lumshory estate can accommodate a large company, as there is a house with 5 rooms and a two-storey eco-cottage for 8-12 people. In addition to a mineral water vat and a herbal vat, there is a Russian bath, a trout pond, gazebos and a barbecue.
There are 5 different vats at the Davir Hotel. And in the restaurant "Vat at Cimbor" even installed a vat for 15 people. "The Green Manor emphasises in its offer that Lumshory are famous for their mineral hydrogen sulphide springs and jokes that "whoever has not been in a vat has never been to Zakarpattia". Another manor with five vats is the Hunting Manor, which, by the way, has cottages for two to nine people. And another picturesque mountain location is the To lem ande estate with wooden huts, a kolyba, hammocks over the "abysses" and a vat in the arms of the mountains.
Vats are also popular in Mizhhiria region. In the village of Izky, there is an eco-resort of the same name, Izki, where there is a bath complex and an open-air vat. The vat is filled with cold mineral water from a natural spring, and the water is heated over an open fire. By the way, the water contains glycerin, which softens the skin and rejuvenates it. Being healthy is natural - this is the slogan of Izki.
