To feel "winter-like" happy, you should visit Khust district. It is in this region that some of the most interesting ski resorts and recreational "oases" in Transcarpathia are located: Izky, Podobovets and Pylypets. There are quite good ski resorts there.
Daily rent
The village of Podobovets is surrounded by picturesque mountain slopes. In summer, it is pleasant to walk here on foot, picking blueberries, and in winter, the small village turns into a wonderful ski resort. The village is located 12 km from Volovets railway station.
The resort is located at an altitude of 950 metres above sea level and has downhill runs. Podobovets is worth a visit not only for skiers but also for snowboarders. The village has several trails of different lengths and levels of difficulty, with a total length of 2,500 metres. There are very steep slopes for skiing gurus, and gentle 400-metre-long trails for beginners. The height difference on the resort's territory is 320 m. One of the highlights of the resort is its suitability for freeriding, i.e. free, off-piste skiing.
The resort offers 4 drag lifts up to 1,230 metres long, as well as a small children's lift. A 700-metre-long drag lift stretches towards Volovets. Near one of the private cottages, there is a piste that is illuminated at night, so you can ski here even when it gets dark (and in winter it happens quite early). Of course, beginners will find not only equipment rental, but also an instructor - and even entire ski or snowboard schools to help them. The ski season here lasts from December to March.
Podobovets is one of the country's most prominent ski resorts, but is it worth going there for people who are not keen on sports activities? Of course it is, because in addition to skiing, Podobovets also offers baths, saunas, restaurants and cafes. You can also try your hand at flying a motorised glider. In winter, tourists can ride snowmobiles and horse-drawn carts. In summer, you can simply go horseback riding around the village.
The best time to visit this corner of Zakarpattia is during the Christmas holidays. Traditions are respected here, so tourists can hear traditional Ukrainian carols, see a nativity scene, and taste traditional dishes. In Podobovets, it's easy to find a comfortable accommodation with breakfast and lunch.

Pylypets
At a symbolic distance from the village of Podobovets, there is another popular winter resort, Pylypets. Tourists staying in Podobovets can also ski in Pylypets (and vice versa) - there are "pipes" between the villages, i.e. forest trails for skiers, so you can change from one resort to the slopes of another without taking off your ski shoes.
Pylypets is another highland village in Khust district. It is located at an altitude of 700-750 m above sea level. The Ploshanka river, Pylypchyk and Studenyi streams flow through the village.
Pylypets was first mentioned in written sources in 1463, but then it was called Verpelepets. Today it is a famous ski resort. Trails of varying difficulty are equipped on the neighbouring mountains Gimba and Ryapushka. Pylypets has three drag lifts. The Zatyshok slope is equipped with a VL-600 lift, with a length of 700 m, a height difference of 150 m and a width of 100-200 m. The Borzhavski Polonyny (1500 m, height difference between stations 402 m) and Magura (900 m) lifts lead to Mount Hymba (1497 m) in Verkhnyi Pylypets. Many hotels, mansions and recreational complexes have been built near the ski lifts, providing comfortable accommodation for tourists of all tastes.
Near Pylypets, there is another natural landmark that is significant for Transcarpathia - the Shypit waterfall. Every year, a hippie festival of the same name is held in its vicinity, bringing together representatives of various subcultures, eco-movements and creative people from all over Ukraine and abroad.

Izki
The village of Izky lies in the valley of the Rypynka River, near such ski resorts as Pylypets and Podobovets. To the northeast, the Verkhovyna Watershed Range rises, from which numerous Carpathian streams originate. To the southeast of Izok is the Borzhava mountain valley, known for its beauty. In the vicinity of the village rise the Zhyd-Magura, Midyanitska Yalina, Ruskyi Verkh, and Holytsia mountains. Skiing enthusiasts are fond of the slopes of Magura, which have slopes and ski lifts.
Izki has gained fame as an eco-resort. The resort and recreation complex at the foot of Žid Magura includes hotels, restaurants, vats, ski lifts and slopes. There is a 950-metre-long drag lift and a 1,000-metre-long two-chair lift. Tourists are offered national Ukrainian and European cuisine, and the local slopes are characterised as easy and medium difficulty, with a snowmobile and artificial snowmaking. There is an equipment rental service and a ski school. One of the advantages of the resort's organisation is the proximity of accommodation to the slopes. The distance is barely 50 metres. Safe slopes with artificial snowmaking are quite suitable for training.
The eco-resort welcomes tourists not only in winter, when the Carpathians are covered with snow, but also during the warm season. The resort offers massage and yoga, hiking and helicopter tours, paragliding and quad biking. Cycling enthusiasts are also welcome here.
The prefix "eco" appeared in the name of the resort not by chance: the picturesque region is characterised by an ideal state of ecology. The resort complex has healing water, so tourists are actually offered clean air, healing water, breathtaking views and exciting entertainment.
