Kvasiv Castle

Kvasiv Castle - A typical knightly castle. The fortress controlled the salt road and the exit from the Borzhava valley. In the 16th century, the owner of the castle, Pavlo Motuznai, repeatedly robbed local peasants and feudal lords. Therefore, in 1565, the Hungarian noblemen's sejm decided to destroy the castle and confiscate the owner's property in favour of the state. In the winter, Austrian troops surrounded the castle and launched an assault. However, it turned out that the owner of the fortress and his army had fled beforehand. The fortress was looted and finally set on fire, after which it was never restored.
