Trout farming in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve

The trout farm of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is located in the Lishchynka tract of the Tribushansky Nature Conservation Research Department. There are 9 fish feeding pools and a hatchery equipped with 32 Schuster devices.

The hatchery houses more than 65,000 salmon species with fry: brook trout, rainbow trout and American char. Brook trout are bred exclusively for release into numerous mountain rivers and streams to support small natural populations, while introduced species are bred for commercial purposes.

At the trout farm, you can not only buy fish but also catch them yourself. Nearby, there is a tourist information centre with an exhibition dedicated to aquatic ecosystems and their inhabitants, including the Carpathian trout.
