Chynadiyivka Castle
The medieval castle "Saint Miklos" was built in the XV century as a typical Romanesque feudal residence.
Chynadiyivka Castle belonged to the rich family of the Pereni barons and guarded the Carpathian pass "Russian Gate". In 1657, the castle was damaged during an assault by the Polish troops of Prince Lubomirski. At the end of the Anti-Habsburg War, the rebel army of Ferenc Rákóczi was stationed here.
Ilona Zrinyi, the wife of Count Rákóczi, secretly met here with the leader of the Hungarian rebels, I. Tekeli, and after her husband's death she married him. Later, the building served as a prison and a warehouse. For a long time, the building was in a state of disrepair.
Nowadays, Chynadiyevo Castle is rented by artist Joseph Bartosz, and enthusiasts are carrying out restoration work. Some of the restored rooms host art exhibitions and live music concerts.
