Royal Castle

Hungarian King Istvan V ordered the construction of a royal hunting lodge on the site of the old Slavic town, where in the second half of the 13th century Beila IV laid a stone castle to strengthen the country's borders. In 1405, the castle was transferred to the Pereni family. After the anti-Habsburg conspiracy, in which the Pereni family took part, the castle was destroyed by order of Emperor Leopold I.

Currently, only parts of the walls remain. One of them bears a plaque with the name of the castle. The castle is clearly visible from afar, as it is located on a hill on the banks of the Tysa River. The castle is located not far from the town of Vynohradiv. It is quite difficult to climb to the top of the castle hill because of the steep slopes. The top offers a view of the Tisza valley and Chorna Hora. There is a wooden church near the castle.
