On 29 November, the final conference in Velykyi Bereznyi summed up the results of the project "Carpathian Mobility - Improving Accessibility and Mobility in the Slovak-Ukrainian Cross-border Region" under the HUSKROUA programme.

The event was welcomed by Jan Kocak, Director of the Project Management Department of the Presov Self-Governing Region, Marianna Gotra, Head of the Tourism and Resorts Department of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, Bohdan Kyrlyk, Velykyi Bereznyi village head, and Oleksandr Reitiy, Director of the Interregional Centre for Cross-Border Cooperation.

The project, which was implemented during 2021-2023 with more than a million euros in EU grant funding, resulted in the construction of the Uzhansky Trail cycling route, which is over 240 km long, rest stops and parking for cyclists, the construction of a 1.8 km long cycle path in Velykyi Bereznyi village, and the creation of an interactive website for cycling tourists.

The conference participants also discussed spatial planning at the regional, national and international levels and state standards for cycling infrastructure and the creation of a unified system of cycling routes to improve accessibility of border areas.
