In the first six months of this year, the tourist tax in Ukraine increased by almost a quarter compared to the same period in 2021 - UAH 85 million 471 thousand against UAH 69 million 453 thousand. Last year, the total amount of tourist tax by region for the first half of the year was almost UAH 89 million.
The top five leaders in terms of tourist tax payments are Kyiv and 4 regions.
The largest amount of tourist tax was paid to the budget of Lviv region - UAH 20 million 365 thousand, compared to UAH 19 million 774 thousand for the same period in 2022. The capital's budget was replenished by UAH 14 million 171 thousand. This amount is almost a third less than in the first six months of last year - UAH 20 million 43 thousand. Zakarpattia region earned UAH 9 million 53 thousand, slightly more than in the same period last year (UAH 8 million 872 thousand). In Ivano-Frankivsk region, the amount of tourist tax was lower than last year - UAH 8 million 755 thousand in 2023 compared to UAH 9 million 47 thousand in 2022. Dnipropetrovska oblast rounds out the top five, with UAH 5 million 279 thousand received by its communities, a third more than in the first half of last year (almost UAH 4 million).

A drop in tourist tax was recorded in 15 regions of Ukraine. The biggest drop was in Luhansk region, where the decline was 100%, Kherson region - 98%, Donetsk region - 91%, and Mykolaiv region - 72%.
It should be noted that the fee rate is set by the decision of local councils for each day of temporary accommodation in the amount of up to 0.5% for domestic tourism and up to 5% for inbound tourism. As of 2023, the amounts were up to UAH 30 for domestic tourism and up to UAH 300 for inbound tourism.
