Transcarpathians and guests of the region have been waiting for the flowering of the most important symbol of the spring tourist season - the Japanese cherry, or sakura.
For the convenience of those who like to take selfies with sakura, we offer the coordinates of the trees' flowering on different streets of Uzhhorod and Mukachevo.
UZHHOROD
Freedom Avenue
Coordinates. 48.6177008918401, 22.28961037545602
The first time we see sakura blossoms in Uzhhorod is right on the first street after getting off the bus/train. The sakura alley here begins after the intersection with Zankovetska Street and consists of both older sakuras from the 60s and younger ones planted recently.
Maria Zankovetska Street
You can turn to it from Svobody Avenue if you want to avoid the busy traffic and wander through the expanses of Uzhhorod to the remote residential areas. Sakura trees bloom on both sides of the street, both at the beginning and at the end.
The approximate coordinates of the sakura trees at the beginning of the street (from Svobody Avenue) are 48.61368468572727, 22.289192788226217
Coordinates of sakura trees at the end of the street – 48.61180658872957, 22.28029930301484

Bohdan Khmelnytsky Square
After passing Svobody Avenue and the 16-storey building (an unofficial meeting place and orientation point for travellers in the city), we come to Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Square. There are two beautiful low sakura trees here, perfect for photo shoots.
Coordinates. 48.62174430657423, 22.2881056104976

Slavyanskaya Embankment
A rather picturesque place on this side of the Uzh River. The sakura trees here start right behind the Venice restaurant and can be found along the entire embankment up to the Bozdosh Park.
The approximate coordinates of the beginning of the alley are 48.62098711519711, 22.28410552092498
Orthodox embankment
Here you will find another young alley of Japanese cherry trees at the beginning and a small square with sakura trees at its end.
The coordinates of the young alley are 48.620124151209076, 22.29987097004303
The coordinates of the square are 48.61797254401449, 22.303688340970062

Masaryk Square and Hoyda Street
Coordinates: 48.62386861541835, 22.28636081982043
Crossing the transport bridge from the side of Svobody Avenue, you will find yourself in a park named after the first president of Czechoslovakia, Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1918-1935), whose monument you can see right there. The place is small, but cosy and calm. It is perfect for catching your breath, checking Google maps and continuing your exploration of Uzhhorod.

Going deeper into the "Czech" district of Uzhhorod, about 50 metres from Masaryk Square, we see a beautiful sakura tree at the crossroads. Its advantage is that it is quite low, so it is perfect for photo shoots.
Coordinates. 48.62501505012288, 22.286145006852937

Mytna St.
The beginning of a small (100m) alley of sakura trees planted on both sides.
Coordinates: 48.627535514501155, 22.286382674218054

Brashchayky and Dovzhenko streets
We move on to the beginning of Brashchayky street (48.6260107066502, 22.29205271052078), which intersects with Dovzhenko Street. It is the historical centre of Uzhhorod, the so-called Czech district (which can be further divided into three parts: Malyi Halahov, Halahov and Velykyi Halahov). It is here that you can see the oldest sakura alley, planted in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century, when Uzhhorod became an important city in Czechoslovakia.
When the sakura cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Uzhhorod, it is usually here that the most tourists come. In addition to the delicious Japanese cherries, few travellers can be indifferent to the original cocktail of Czech architecture, Hungarian cuisine and Transcarpathian flavour.

Teatralnaya Square
Coordinates. 48.62213346963881, 22.29841485333089
It is a fairly popular place with routes to all directions. The historic centre, Uzhhorod Castle, a beautiful promenade and one of the first children's railways are located nearby. The town owes its name to the opening of a theatre here in 1920.
When the sakura trees are in bloom in Uzhhorod, this square becomes especially noisy. After the photo shoot, it's worth wandering around the streets of central Uzhhorod for a while. By the way, in the background of the photo you can see the Philharmonic, which used to be one of the largest Orthodox synagogues in Europe, built in 1904.

Embankment of Independence
This is probably the favourite sakura tree of all selfie lovers. Before the war, there was a monument to Pushkin here.
Coordinates: J7FR+JW Uzhhorod, Zakarpattia region.

MUKACHEVO
Currently, almost 8,000 of these trees are growing in Mukachevo. This year, 500 Japanese cherry saplings were planted.
In total, the length of the streets with sakura trees in Mukachevo is more than 4 kilometres.
