Events on the occasion of the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine
Very soon, we will be celebrating holidays that are important to every Ukrainian: August 23rd – State Flag Day of Ukraine, August 24th – Independence Day of Ukraine. On this occasion, regional cultural institutions have traditionally prepared a series of events – thematic exhibitions and charity sales, poetry readings, theatre performances and concerts, a dawn "Prayer for Ukraine," and much more.
We are publishing the programme and ask you to share it and join in the joint celebration of national holidays.
Thank you to the Defenders who fight daily for our Independence and do everything to ensure that the blue and yellow flag waves freely and triumphantly throughout Ukraine.
From 17 August – The book exhibition "We are Ukrainians: Honour and Glory to the Unbreakable";
18-24 August – language challenge on the library's social media pages "Live and be strong, Ukrainian state".

19 August at 3:00 PM – opening of the travelling charity exhibition-sale of works by artists from different regions of Ukraine and abroad, “Free Flowers” – a large-scale art project created as a thank you and in memory of the Heroes and Heroines who died fighting for Ukraine;
21st August at 15:00 – opening of the exhibition of traditional women's bead jewellery "Necklace for a White Neck";
22nd August at 14:00 – Cultural and artistic event "The Role of Women in the Folk Culture of Transcarpathia" (within the framework of the "Preserve, Create, Live, My Ukraine" initiative);
24 August at 11:00 – Divine Liturgy in the Shelekhiv Church at the museum.
Transcarpathian Regional Theatre of Drama and Comedy (Khust, Ukraine)
20 August at 5:15 PM – charitable masterclass on Ukrainian stage language by the theatre's director and artistic manager, Olesia Chepelyuk, at the Khust Public Library;
19:00 on 24 August – a gala concert featuring artists and the theatre orchestra "Ukraine Resonates in the Heart" (author and director – Olesya Chepelyuk);
26 August at 18:00 – "Breathe Freely" charity poetry and music evening featuring theatre artists, members of the Khustshchyna Writers' Union "Maysternya Slova" (Workshop of Words), and all interested individuals (moderator – Olesya Chepelyuk).
21 and 22 August from 11:00 – a charity mini-fair of folk art crafts in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an exhibition of paintings by the winners of the regional competitions of students from Zakarpattia art schools (Teatralna Square).
22 August at 3:00 PM – opening of the 43rd exhibition of works by members of the youth art association 'Focus Group' - 'My Independence';
22-23 August – Exhibition of military unit flags from the collection of the "Symbol of Honour, Valour and Glory" museum;
From 24 August, a themed bookshelf "Everything will be Ukraine" will be available at the museum library.
22nd August at 11:00 – patriotic online marathon "What does Ukraine mean to me?" (Department for Serving Pupils of Grades 1-4);
22 August – exhibition of the children's thought banner "Live, my country, Ukraine!" (department for servicing pupils aged 10-14) and the book and illustration exhibition "Independent and United!" (department for servicing youth).
From 23 August:
– in the museum halls – an exhibition of a single painting – "Celebration" by the coryphaeus of the Transcarpathian school of painting, Yosyp Bokshai;
– at the branch "Memorial House-Museum of People's Artist of Ukraine F. Manailo" – an exhibition of a single painting – "The Struggle for Freedom" by Fedir Manailo;
– at the branch "Memorial House-Museum of People's Artist of Ukraine A. Kotska" – exhibition "With Ukraine in the Heart" – costume sketches for the Transcarpathian Folk Choir by Andriy Kotska;
– at the branch of the "People's Literary Museum of Transcarpathia" – a book and document exhibition "From the Hutsul Republic, Krasne Pole – to the Dawn of Independence".
On the same day, August 23rd, in the courtyard of the ZOHM named after Bokshai (3 Zhupnatska Street), the Transcarpathian organisation of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine will be holding an exhibition and sale of works of art in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It starts at 11:00 AM.
Academic chamber Cantus Choir
23 August at 20:00 – a performance by the ensemble led by People's Artist of Ukraine Emyl Sokach with the concert programme "Music Born of Freedom" at the "ART-DK" art space (on the territory of the "Derenivska Kupil" Health Complex, Nizhny Solotvyno village, Uzhhorod district);
24 August – continuation of the concert series "Sounds of Heaven, Voices of Earth" – in the Greek Catholic churches of Mizhhirya (11:00) and Volovets (12:30).
Transcarpathian Academic Music and Drama Theatre Brativ Yu-A. and Ye. Sherehiyiv St.
On 23 and 24 August at 21:00, open-air screenings of the tragedy "Richard III" by William Shakespeare, staged by the theatre's chief director, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Fishchenko. The lead role is played by the theatre's director and artistic director, Rudolf Dzurynets (Nevytske village, Uzhhorod district).
24th August at 6:00 AM – artistic-patriotic event "Prayer for Ukraine" – greeting the sunrise with the Honoured Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir, led by Honoured Cultural Worker of Ukraine Nataliya Petiy-Potapchuk. This time, Uzhhorod residents and city guests will be joined live by friends from Europe, North and South America (A. Bachinsky Square).
24 August – the grand opening of the anniversary 45th theatre season: at 11:00 and 13:00 – showings of the play "Kozak Mamaryha, or How a Kozak Taught a King" staged by Honoured Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Kutsyk, and from 12:00 to 13:00 – an entertainment programme for children on Teatralna Square (in front of the theatre building).
24 August at 6:00 PM – an open-air charity concert "Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!" performed by the Academic Pop and Brass Orchestra (leader – People's Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Spivak, conductor – Stanislav Kerechanin) and soloists – Honoured Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Sadvariy, Myroslava Shvakh-Pekar, and Halyna Havrylko (Yevgena Fentsyka Square, in front of the Philharmonic building).
25 August at 16:00 – film screening of the 1st part of Akim Galimov's Ukrainian historical documentary series "Return of Our History" (M. Hubai Hall).
