15 March 2024 marks the 85th anniversary of the declaration of independence of Carpathian Ukraine. The landmark event of 15 March 1939 was the result of many years of activity by Ukrainian patriotic forces and turned Transcarpathia from a periphery into the epicentre of the Ukrainian liberation movement and state-building.
At the same time, 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Augustine Voloshyn, a well-known political, cultural, and religious figure, president of Carpathian Ukraine.
