Two museums, two theatres, two exciting open-air performances. Soon, for Uzhhorod City Day, residents and guests of the city are invited to atmospheric theatre shows.
On Thursday, September 11th, the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theatre will present the play "Herod" by contemporary Transcarpathian playwright Oleksandr Havrosh in the courtyard of Uzhhorod Castle (Uzhhorod Castle, Tivadar Legotsky Museum of Local Lore).
The production, distinguished by its innovative stage language, original myth, and unusual form, was directed by the theatre's chief director, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Natalia Oreshnikova, in creative tandem with the renowned Lviv set designer, Inessa Kulchytska.
The play 'Herod' invites the audience to contemplate the eternal themes of moral decay, tyranny, and power. Despite the tragic nature of the plot, it carries a message of hope and faith in spiritual rebirth. Through the archetype of the nativity play, the performance appeals to the Temple of the soul, which each person builds throughout their life's journey.

The performance will take place as part of the theatre's 45th anniversary celebrations. Entry is free, and at the same time, the organisers encourage attendees to support fundraising for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On Saturday, September 13th, at the Uzhhorod Skansen (Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life/Uzhhorod Skansen), those interested will have the opportunity to see the play "Zhmeniaky" by the Transcarpathian Academic Music and Drama Theatre named after the Brothers Yu.-A. and Ye. Sherehii.
The production was created by People's Artist of Ukraine Anatoliy Filippov, based on the novel of the same name by Transcarpathian writer and classic of Ukrainian literature, Mykhailo Tomchanii. It tells the story of a real family's life – about the eternal struggle between moral and material values, about love, losses, and choices that shape human destiny.
The sincere drama, which grips to the depths, will be complemented by authentic Transcarpathian dances and costumes, as well as the colouring of a traditional Transcarpathian village in the museum's exhibition.
