Thematic events for the National Week of Accessibility

From 19 to 25 May, Ukraine will host its first National Barrier-Free Week, launched by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine and the Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Barrier-Free Access.

The initiative is part of the implementation of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space by 2030 and aims to draw attention to the importance of building an inclusive and accessible environment for all citizens.

The week will include presentations of successful cases implemented in different regions, discussions of topical issues, exchange of knowledge and practices, educational, cultural and artistic events, etc.
Zakarpattia joins the initiative. In particular, regional cultural institutions have prepared a programme of thematic events for the National Barrier-Free Week, which starts today.

Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library named after F. Potushnyak
15 May at 14:00 - workshop "No Barriers: How to Interact Correctly" by accessibility expert Marina Stashina-Neymet;
19 May at 10:00 - visit to the Uzhhorod City Territorial Centre for Social Services, action "Mobile Library Assistance" (book exchange);
22 May at 11:00 - a candy-making workshop at the inclusive coffee shop Angel.
Transcarpathian Regional Hungarian Drama Theatre ZOR (Berehove)
Screening of the interactive play "The Bee's Tale", which tells the story of a bee with physical disabilities and its interaction with other characters, highlighting important social themes of acceptance and inclusion.
On 19 May at 9:30 in Muzhiyevo village, and at 12:00 in Berehove;
On 22 May at 9:30 in Verbovets village, and at 12:00 in Shalanky village.
Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic. 
19 May at 12:00 - a concert of artists in the Uzhhorod City Territorial Centre for Social Services;
20 May at 15:00 - concert for schoolchildren in the Christian Cultural Centre of Mukachevo;
25 May at 10:00 - Festival of children and youth creativity with the participation of children with disabilities (large concert hall).
Transcarpathian Academic Music and Drama Theatre named after brothers Y.-A. and Y. Sherehiy
20 May at 14:00 - screening of the play The Kaidashev Family with sign language interpretation and audio description.
Transcarpathian Regional Theatre of Drama and Comedy (Khust)
20 May at 14:00 - screening of the play When Animals Spoke for children with hearing impairments accompanied by a sign language interpreter;
21 May - educational event "Barrier-Free Hour" (time to be specified).
Academy of Culture and Arts
20 May at 15:00 - a lecture for students "Barrier-Free 2.0: Inclusion as a part of the modern lifestyle" by the university's practical psychologist Anzhelika Bodnar (reading room).
Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum in cooperation with the Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth
On 21 May, from 10:00, an exhibition of creative works by pupils of the Uzhhorod Special School for the Hearing Impaired, a creative workshop and an exhibition of Braille books "Books that speak with hands" (at the museum).
Uzhhorod Castle, Tyvodar Lehotskyi Museum of Local Lore
21 May at 14:00 - presentation of the joint project of the museum and the Gladiators NGO - Fortress of the Spirit (adaptive sports).
Uzhhorod Music College named after D. Zador
21 May at 18:00 - a concert "Everything will be fine..." performed by the orchestra of folk instruments "Virtuosos of Transcarpathia" with the participation of a person with a disability (large concert hall);
22 May at 12:00 - presentation of the Jonny Standard mobile stairlift in the facility.
Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life/Uzhhorod Skansen
22 May at 10:00 - a tour of the museum's exposition for children of the NGO "Centre for the Provision of Social and Rehabilitation Services for Children and People with Disabilities "Way of Life"; a workshop on making houses for wild bees by the head of the inclusive workshop "The Way to Christ" Andriy Donichenko as part of a joint project with the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies.
Honoured Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir
22 May at 14:30 - a concert-presentation for the wards of the Caritas Charity of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese (choir hall).
Transcarpathian Regional Organisational and Methodological Centre of Culture
23 May at 10:00 - a masterclass on making souvenirs from velvet clay for children of the NGO "Centre for the provision of social and rehabilitation services for children and people with disabilities "Way of Life"; webinar "Mental health during the war: how to take care of yourself and others? Advice for Art School Teachers" (time to be specified).
Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theatre
25 May at 12:00 - an exhibition of creative works by Vasyl Myriavchyk, a theatre worker with a disability, an introduction to the author and a candle-making workshop (theatre foyer).
Academic chamber choir "Cantus" / Cantus Choir
25 May - concerts in the villages of Bushtyno and Solotvyno with the invitation of children from the Parasolka Social Habilitation and Rehabilitation Centre (time to be confirmed).
