Transcarpathia is a region that has been a crossroads of cultures, languages, and peoples for centuries. Its history is not just confined to textbooks, but is a living pulse of change, migration, and interaction.

Within the lecture, we will talk about:
– the first traces of human presence in the region;
– waves of migration: from Indo-Europeans to Slavs;
– the influence of the Celts, Sarmatians, Huns and other peoples;
– archaeological finds that change our understanding of the region's ancient population;
– how these processes shaped the ethno-cultural mosaic of modern Zakarpattia.

The speaker is Ihor Prokhrnenko, a Candidate of Historical Sciences, Director of the Institute of Carpathian Studies, and Associate Professor at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Culturology at Uzhhorod National University. His research combines academic depth with accessibility for a wide audience.
