The museum will open an exhibition of paintings by Aurelia Fedor dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the artist's birth.

Aurelia Fedor was born on 8 May 1915 in the village of Lastomir (now Slovakia) to a village teacher.

She studied at the Uzhhorod Russian Gymnasium, where the outstanding painter Yosyp Bokshai taught drawing, then at the Uzhhorod Semi-Primary School, where the founder of the Transcarpathian Art School Adalbert Erdeli taught drawing, who opened the world of art to the talented student and taught her the basics of professional literacy.

After graduating from the seminary with honours, she was sent to work in the remote villages of Velykyi Bereznyi district, where she worked and made lifelong friends with A. Kotska and E. Kondratovych. During these years, she painted a lot of watercolours.

Aurelia Fedor was a participant of the Second World War. After the war, she worked first as the head of the women's department in Uzhhorod, then as a principal of a primary school with Hungarian as the language of instruction, and as a head teacher and teacher at an evening school for working youth. She received her higher pedagogical education in Uzhhorod and later in Drohobych.

She started painting intensively after retirement. For the first time her works were exhibited at the city and regional exhibitions in the early 80s of the twentieth century. She participated in city, regional and republican exhibitions of amateur art, international exhibitions in cities: Prague (Czech Republic), Budapest (Hungary), Bratislava (Slovakia), Cluj-Napoca (Romania).

Personal exhibitions were held in the cities: Uzhhorod (1997), Debrecen (Hungary, 1997) and Kosice (Slovakia, 1998).
