Events on the occasion of the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine
On the occasion of the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine, regional cultural institutions are preparing a number of themed events, some of which will take place this week.
Traditionally, we publish the programme and invite residents and guests of Transcarpathia to celebrate these important national holidays together - with faith in the Victory of Ukraine and gratitude to our Defenders!
Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum named after Y. Bokshay
14 August from 10:00 - exhibition "Pages of the History of the Painting by Fedir Manailo "Struggle for Freedom" (branch of the F. Manailo Memorial House-Museum);
15 August at 15:00 - presentation of the 16-volume History of Ukraine by Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor and writer Serhiy Fedaka (branch of the Folk Literary Museum of Transcarpathia);
22 August at 15:00 - creative meeting "Involvement in words and life. Writers of Transcarpathia in the struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine" (branch of the "People's Literary Museum of Transcarpathia");
On 23 August at 15:00 - opening of the exhibition "Artists from the Frontline" featuring works by Mykhailo Khodanych, a sculptor, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, a lecturer at the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts, who is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Maksym Plesha, an artist, graduate of the ZAM, a volunteer defender who died in the war against the Russian invaders on 23 August 2023.
Transcarpathian Regional Organisational and Methodological Centre of Culture
On 15 August, from 10:00 a.m., a charity mini-fair of folk art products in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (18 Voloshina Street).
Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life/Uzhhorod Skansen
15 August at 15:00 - opening of the exhibition of retro photographs "Folk schooling in Transcarpathia";
20 August at 16:00 - a sand show concert on the occasion of the closing of the exhibition "The One", dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine by students and teachers of the sand animation studio "Star light";
22 August at 15:00 - opening of a personal jubilee exhibition of works by folk artist Mariia Kupar;
23 August at 15:00 - opening of the VI International Exhibition "Inspired by the Doll";
24-25 August - Weekend in Skansen project: themed workshops and quests;
25 August at 11:00 - Divine Liturgy in the Shelest Church of the Archangel Michael on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.
Transcarpathian Academic Music and Drama Theatre named after Sherehiy brothers
19 August at 18:00 - concert "Symphony of the Crimea. The Return" as part of the all-Ukrainian tour of the National Presidential Orchestra, supported by the ICIP and with the participation of the NGO "Cultural and Artistic Foundation DUSHA.UA".
21 August at 19:00 - in cooperation with SHKIRYAK clinic, the theatre will host a charity screening of the play Our Kaidashi with the participation of famous Ukrainian actors Olga Sumska, Taras Tsymbalyuk, Volodymyr Horyansky, Natalka Denysenko, Olena Svitlytska, Oleksandr Piskunov, and Iryna Kudashova. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales will be used to purchase electronic warfare devices for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library named after F. Potushnyak
20 August at 17:00 - presentation of Serhiy Fedaka's book "Independence";
22 August at 17:00 - patriotic evening "Ukraine is us";
23 August at 16:00 - a meeting of the Book Club dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine, discussion of the novel Maria by Ulas Samchuk.
The library will also present book and illustration exhibitions "Independent Ukraine for all ages for all times" and "The Flag of Freedom and Liberty".
Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth
22-23 August (online and offline) - patriotic video marathon "Ukraine lives in a small heart" (service department for grades 1-4), book and illustration exhibition "Live, my country Ukraine!" and a banner of children's thoughts "Why it is cool to be Ukrainian" (service department for grades 5-9), book and illustration exhibition "Our destiny and freedom are in Ukraine" (service department for youth).
Uzhhorod Castle, Tyvodar Lehotskyi Museum of Local Lore
22 August at 11:00 - opening of a personal exhibition of graphic works by Vitaliy Dorosh "Spirit of the Nation";
23 August at 15:00 - scientific and patriotic event "My Ukraine - united and free" and opening of the exhibition of drawings by schoolchildren and children of temporarily displaced persons of the Uzhhorod Model Studio of Fine Arts "Golden Palette".
The museum will also present additions to the Gallery of Flags exhibition and the book and illustration exhibition Moments of the History of Ukrainian Independence.
Transcarpathian Regional Theatre of Drama and Comedy (Khust)
23 August at 20:00 - a concert dedicated to the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine, as well as the opening of the VIII theatre season (theatre's summer courtyard).
Honoured Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir
On 24 August at 6:00, the traditional cultural and artistic event "Prayer for Ukraine" - a meeting of the sun with the Honoured Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir. The event will include a joint ecumenical service with representatives of various faiths, and for the first time, online participants from Europe and the United States will join the event (Narodna Square).

24 August at 11:00 - free screening of the play "In Our Paradise on Earth" (children's Kobzarik).
Transcarpathian Regional Hungarian Drama Theatre (Berehove)
24 August at 17:00 - free screening of the Ukrainian film The Guide (M. Gubai Studio-Hall).

25 August - concerts in Chop and Velyki Luchky as part of the band's charity concert tour in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Sounds of Heaven, Voices of Earth" (time and place to be confirmed).
