Exhibition hall of the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life
The artist will present about 70 embroidered works (towels and icons) at the exhibition.
Hanna Mykolaivna was born on 5 October 1944 in the picturesque mountain village of Kostrynska Roztoka in the Bereznyanskyi region. From her early childhood, she had a great desire for art - at the age of 5, little Anna picked up a needle and thread for the first time from her mother. In the 5th grade, she embroidered her first original embroidered shirt with her own hands (a photo of the work is in the family archive).
After graduating from school, she began to learn the profession of pastry chef from a well-known Transcarpathian master Josef Schneidgen. With her creative nature and great desire for knowledge, she became a favourite student of the pastry chef, and her ability to create confectionery masterpieces has accompanied her throughout her life (no Kostryn wedding could be complete without her special cakes with colourful rose decorations).
However, Hanna had another dream - to become a teacher. So later, Hanna graduated from Mukachevo Pedagogical College and devoted 47 years to her favourite teaching job, raising many generations of children (6 years at Liuta village school and 41 years at Kostrynska Roztoka primary school).
But embroidery has always remained a special thing, a ritual where complete creative harmony reigned: the selection of ornaments, the feeling of the canvas, an imaginary game with the colour palette and, most importantly, not forgetting native customs and traditions. Whether in joy or sadness, Anna Mykolayivna picks up the needle again and creates another of her masterpieces, which deeply reflects the state of her soul. She pays special attention to the colours of the towels, which makes each towel unique and gives it its own unique mood. But the creative work is not limited to towels (there are more than 60 of them) - the artist also likes to work with beads and, in particular, icons that were created and are in the churches of Kostryno, Kostrynska Roztoka and in private collections (about 20), tablecloths, carpets.
The artist's works were partially presented at the presentation of works in the Transcarpathian Museum of Architecture and Rural Life near the estate from Husnyi village, Velykyi Bereznyi district; at the Days of Neighbourliness in Lubnia and Kostryno villages; regional exhibition of masters of decorative and applied arts "Dyvotsvit Zakarpattya" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence in the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life.
