Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Local Lore

The Tyvodar Lehotskyi Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Local Lore has been operating since June 1945. Its collection includes about 110,000 exhibits that introduce the centuries-old history and culture of the region. Depending on the subject matter, the expositions are organised into separate funds, collections, and departments:

  • Folk Art Department with a particularly rich collection of musical instruments;
  • Department of Spiritual Culture and History of Religion;
  • a nature department with an interesting collection of minerals, herbaria, and stuffed animals;
  • ethnographic collections, which include more than 2,000 folk embroideries alone;
  • one of the largest collections of bronze items in Ukraine - 3,000 items, most of which date back to the 13th and 12th centuries BC;
  • numismatic collection;
  • a collection of firearms from the 14th - early 20th centuries;
  • ancient manuscripts, etc.
